Bits and Pieces from the NHL, Feb. 8th

Bits and Pieces from the NHL, Feb. 8th
After a long, long stretch of winless games, 10 to be exact – it appeared that the Bruins bandwagon was on the fast track to the bottom of the Eastern Conference. After dismal losses to some of the best teams in the league – Chicago and Ottawa as well as to some of the worst teams – the ‘Canes and Blue Jackets – both the Bruins and their fans were wondering what the heck had happened...

A Long Cold Winter

Jan 31st, 2010 9:03 pm Posted By Bonnie Adams

A Long Cold Winter
The last week or so has been particularly cold in Massachusetts, with snow, extreme winds and sharp dips of the thermometer. But no one it seems is colder now than that professional hockey team that plays over on Boston’s Causeway Street. This time last year the Boston Bruins were playing great, so well in fact that they were happily ensconced on top of the Eastern Conference, a comfortable perch...

The Boston Bruises

Jan 13th, 2010 10:10 am Posted By Bonnie Adams

The Boston Bruises
Well, what can I say positive about the Bruins right now? The Winter Classic was exciting. Um, Mark Stuart is due to come back soon after suffering a broken sternum, although I don’t know how. Milan Lucic is back from his second injury of the season. And Patrice Bergeron doesn’t have a broken hand, just a broken thumb. But yikes, it has been a tough season so far for Team Black and Gold (or should...

For Boston Fans, Bruins-Rangers Game Painful in More Ways Than One

For Boston Fans, Bruins-Rangers Game Painful in More Ways Than One
Just a few days ago, the Bruins and their fans were so excited after the team pulled off a last minute victory over the Philadelphia Flyers in the Winter Classic. It was a glorious start to the New Year. But last night’s game against the New York Rangers was like a really, really bad hangover. The Bs came out against NY with as much zing as a week’s old bottle of champagne. Not enough sizzle,...

A Winter Classic Miracle for Boston

Jan 2nd, 2010 5:20 pm Posted By Bonnie Adams

A Winter Classic Miracle for Boston
Last time I wrote for this blog I stated I wasn’t really excited about the upcoming Winter Classic, even though my favorite team, the Boston Bruins would be in it this year. After watching the game yesterday against the Philadelphia Flyers, and having some time to reflect on it, I can say it was a great day. However, up until 17.82 of the third period I was not enjoying it for the most part. Things...

As a Bruins Fan, Should I Be Excited About the Winter Classic? (I’m Not.)

As a Bruins Fan, Should I Be Excited About the Winter Classic? (I'm Not.)
Earlier this week, Tyler Padley did a nice story for this website about the Winter Classic and discussed some great ideas for future possible match-ups. As a Bruins fan, you’d think I’d be really excited about the upcoming one which will be held on January 1st, as it will feature my beloved team here in their home city of Boston. But truthfully, I am less than thrilled about this. And here’s...

Remembering the Joe Thornton Trade

Dec 11th, 2009 10:00 am Posted By Bonnie Adams

Remembering the Joe Thornton Trade
It was THE trade that shook not only Boston Bruins hockey but indeed the whole NHL. On Nov. 30, 2005, Joe Thornton was traded by Boston to the San Jose Sharks. And to this day, some 4 years later, fans are still passionately divided as to if this was a good thing or not. Thornton, of course, was the first pick overall in 1997. Bruins fans had high hopes and were excited to get this big young player,...

Welcome Back Marc Savard

Nov 25th, 2009 2:21 am Posted By Bonnie Adams

Welcome Back Marc Savard
Dear Savvy, Oh, thank God, you are back! We have missed you so much! You know we all like to say that no one is a “real star” on this team and that everyone works as hard as everyone else, (you know, the whole Bruins “lunch pail” mentality) but between you and I, we know that’s not true. You, Marc Savard, are THE star of the Bruins! Oh, sure I like Michael Ryder, God knows I’ve...
