For Boston Fans, Bruins-Rangers Game Painful in More Ways Than One
Just a few days ago, the Bruins and their fans were so excited after the team pulled off a last minute victory over the Philadelphia Flyers in the Winter Classic. It was a glorious start to the New Year. But last night’s game against the New York Rangers was like a really, really bad hangover. The Bs came out against NY with as much zing as a week’s old bottle of champagne. Not enough sizzle,...

4 Rangers Defense-men, 3 Blueshirt Alumni, 2 Scoring Forwards and a Partridge in a Pear Tree.
Although some fans may prefer the gift of winning, during this holiday season the Rangers are giving back to their fans and community in other ways. Two weeks ago on December 2nd, current Rangers Matt Gilroy, Michal Rozsival, Dan Girardi, Michael Del-Zotto,  Read More →

Hockey Hold’em

Hockey Hold'em
Anyone playing a game of Texas Hold’em Poker knows that the entire hand relies on the cards that are drawn and not the ones necessarily in your hand. A set of aces, pre-flop, can look very promising, enough so that you’re willing to push your entire stack of chips into the pot. They look especially promising, after you’ve revealed your cards to show your ‘winning’ hand...

Red Numbers For The Blue Jerseys

Red Numbers For The Blue Jerseys
Bobby Vinton is a singer who, until he re-discovered his Polish heritage, made a career singing songs about reds and blues. “Roses are red, my love, Violets are blue.” “She wore blue velvet.” “Blue on blue, heartache on heartache.”   “I want some red roses for a blue lady.”  He has had a long and successful career, and although not still in the “big...

Anatomy of a Coaching Change

Anatomy of a Coaching Change
When the time is right there is nothing to do or say except to make the change.  It’s time to get the wrong person out of there and move someone else into place.  By their nature, however, midseason changes are a drastic move and should not be taken lightly.  The chemistry a team develops over the preseason and regular season flows over into the coaching staff as well.  By replacing the coaches...

Is Vinny Prospal The Rangers’ Secret Santa?

Dec 5th, 2009 11:32 am Posted By Tony Briguglio

Is Vinny Prospal The Rangers' Secret Santa?
Ranger fans know the drill – expect little and get less. And then there was Vinny Prospal. It’s just past the quarter pole and Vinny Prospal is on his way to a career year, but all you hear about Marion Gaborik. In 26 games, Prospal has 6 goals and 20 assists. He leads the Rangers in assists and is second only to Gaborik in goals scored and in total points. Most significant is the fact...

In A New York Minute

In A New York Minute
October 17th, 11:30pm: Another win for the boys in red and blue. Marking 7 in a row, we’ve started to believe that maybe, just maybe, this is the season for the Rangers to make another solid Stanley Cup run (it’s been a while, so a little hope is more than welcomed). Dubinsky has found a home amongst amazing skaters, Gaborik and Prospal. Avery, Callahan and Captain Drury are off to a great start....

Let’s Go Band, But Not At MSG

Nov 18th, 2009 5:04 pm Posted By Tony Briguglio

Let's Go Band, But Not At MSG
You’ve heard “Let’s Go Band” played at every arena during hockey, basketball and football games, whether professional, college or even high school. I remember it back at Fordham. When the crowd needed awakening to enliven the home team play, the band would strike up the tune: DUM – DUM – DUM – DE – DA – DA DUM – DUM – DUM – DE...
