The Greatest Canadien of All

The Greatest Canadien of All
Mon Dieu! Fellow hockey fans, hell is freezing over, because here I am, a devout Bruins fan, about to write my second story in a row on…gulp..the Montreal Canadiens. Have I lost my mind? Yes, I think so after this year which has seen my Bruins really struggling with injuries, inconsistencies and lack luster play. I was actually at the Bs-Columbus Blue Jackets game last night and it was indeed a...

A Big Man with a Big Heart

Jan 16th, 2010 10:00 am Posted By Bonnie Adams

A Big Man with a Big Heart
As a Bruins fan, it is in my blood, in my DNA, in every fiber of my being, to hate the Montreal Canadiens. Decades of abuse, beat downs and ghosts of Habs past showing up at inopportune times, will do that to you. But tonight I am here to write about my admiration for them and for one of their players in particular, Georges Laraque. I was actually going to write about something quite different for...

“The Great French Hope” Sent Packing

Dec 1st, 2009 11:23 am Posted By Chris Reed

Amidst all the hoopla surrounding the Laraque fiasco, a minor deal went down involving a player that many expected to be the “The Next French Hope” of the Habs; one that this writer didn’t expect to see. For those that haven’t, here’s what happened. In what I’m sure was not the idea when they signed him to “toughen up their team”,...

ROY’S SHOES IMPOSSIBLE TO FILL

Nov 7th, 2009 11:52 am Posted By Jeremy Beal

ROY'S SHOES IMPOSSIBLE TO FILL
My neighbor has a poster of the great Patrick Roy’s infamous Canadiens helmet in his garage. It’s in the place of honour and when his garage is open it’s the first thing you see. His garage is open all the time. I live West of Toronto and there are enough Habs fans in my neighborhood and in my circle of acquaintances to fill the Bell Center, thousands of little red satellites in a deep blue...

MARKOV INJURY COMPLICATE CANADIENS’ FUTURE

Oct 5th, 2009 12:55 pm Posted By Don Ehrenhaft

MARKOV INJURY COMPLICATE CANADIENS' FUTURE
Andrei Markov, of the Montreal Canadiens, was injured during a 3rd period collision with team-mate Goalie Carey Price suffering a lacerated tendon in his ankle, Thursday night’s league-opener.  The 2-time all-star defenseman was taken to a Toronto hospital.  He is expected to be out for up to 4 months. Markov ran the power play for Montreal and will be sorely missed.  The Russian born defenseman...
