Bits and Pieces from the NHL, Feb. 8th

Bits and Pieces from the NHL, Feb. 8th
After a long, long stretch of winless games, 10 to be exact – it appeared that the Bruins bandwagon was on the fast track to the bottom of the Eastern Conference. After dismal losses to some of the best teams in the league – Chicago and Ottawa as well as to some of the worst teams – the ‘Canes and Blue Jackets – both the Bruins and their fans were wondering what the heck had happened...

A Long Cold Winter

Jan 31st, 2010 9:03 pm Posted By Bonnie Adams

A Long Cold Winter
The last week or so has been particularly cold in Massachusetts, with snow, extreme winds and sharp dips of the thermometer. But no one it seems is colder now than that professional hockey team that plays over on Boston’s Causeway Street. This time last year the Boston Bruins were playing great, so well in fact that they were happily ensconced on top of the Eastern Conference, a comfortable perch...

The Greatest Canadien of All

The Greatest Canadien of All
Mon Dieu! Fellow hockey fans, hell is freezing over, because here I am, a devout Bruins fan, about to write my second story in a row on…gulp..the Montreal Canadiens. Have I lost my mind? Yes, I think so after this year which has seen my Bruins really struggling with injuries, inconsistencies and lack luster play. I was actually at the Bs-Columbus Blue Jackets game last night and it was indeed a...

Oh, That’s Right! There’s an NHL Team in OH!

Oh, That's Right! There's an NHL Team in OH!
On Monday, January 18th, the Bruins were slated to play a game against the Ottawa Senators at the TD Garden in Boston. The game was set for an unusual time, 1:00pm, because of the Martin Luther King holiday. Unfortunately apparently no one told the Bruins that because from net on out, they just didn’t bother showing up. One player did, that’s for sure. The ever annoying Sens captain Daniel Alfredsson....

A Big Man with a Big Heart

Jan 16th, 2010 10:00 am Posted By Bonnie Adams

A Big Man with a Big Heart
As a Bruins fan, it is in my blood, in my DNA, in every fiber of my being, to hate the Montreal Canadiens. Decades of abuse, beat downs and ghosts of Habs past showing up at inopportune times, will do that to you. But tonight I am here to write about my admiration for them and for one of their players in particular, Georges Laraque. I was actually going to write about something quite different for...

The Boston Bruises

Jan 13th, 2010 10:10 am Posted By Bonnie Adams

The Boston Bruises
Well, what can I say positive about the Bruins right now? The Winter Classic was exciting. Um, Mark Stuart is due to come back soon after suffering a broken sternum, although I don’t know how. Milan Lucic is back from his second injury of the season. And Patrice Bergeron doesn’t have a broken hand, just a broken thumb. But yikes, it has been a tough season so far for Team Black and Gold (or should...

Injuries Prove Hockey Is Not For The Faint of Heart, Body or Soul

Injuries Prove Hockey Is Not For The Faint of Heart, Body or Soul
Every sport, of course has injuries, and hockey is no different. Broken ribs and bones and concussions are par for the course. But every once in a while there is something so horrific that has happened to a player that you just have to stop and shudder, feeling sick to your stomach, and then wonder why that hasn’t happened more often. On December 30th, it was actually an on-ice official in a Canadian...

For Boston Fans, Bruins-Rangers Game Painful in More Ways Than One

For Boston Fans, Bruins-Rangers Game Painful in More Ways Than One
Just a few days ago, the Bruins and their fans were so excited after the team pulled off a last minute victory over the Philadelphia Flyers in the Winter Classic. It was a glorious start to the New Year. But last night’s game against the New York Rangers was like a really, really bad hangover. The Bs came out against NY with as much zing as a week’s old bottle of champagne. Not enough sizzle,...
