Marion Hossa has been working out with the team and even has begun to play amidst light contact scrimmages. The star winger won’t be rushed onto the ice at this time; the powers that make that call will be sure that he is 100 % before expecting him to do his magic. The team is sitting on top of their division and 3rd in the Western Conference without the Slovakian sniper.
When the bell rings, Hossa will begin playing. He has scored everywhere that he has played at a clip of just under a point a game. He has topped 40 goals 3 times netting 45 in the 2002-03 season with the Senators. Hossa should have no trouble fitting into the skilled line-up that the Blackhawks put on the ice every game. He is a shooter, a scorer, a finisher. I, for one, am happy to see him with the Blackhawks this year. I expect him to score between 25-35 goals and to compliment the youth and exuberance of the gifted forwards.
The critics claim that he coasted through the play-offs for the last 2 years, trying to ride the wave to claiming the cup. Hossa has played in the Stanley Cup finals 2 years running and contrary to belief, he did not cause the defeat of the mighty Redwings machine. Last play-off year, Hossa scored 6 goals, 9 assists, 15 points in 23 games. Not breaking any records, but respectable numbers for any player. In 20 play-off games with Pittsburg, Hossa scored 12 goals, 14 assists, for 26 points. Sure, he played with Sid the Kid, and the television analysts will tell you how anyone could score with Sid feeding you, but from my understanding, you still have to have some skills of your own to put 12 shots in the net. In the play-offs, Hossa has a +27 rating and 6 game winning goals.
It is rumored that Marion Hossa will be partnered with young dynamic play-making captain, Jonathan Toews. Toews led the Blackhawks with 32 goals last year and should his skills be a match for Hossa, either one of both players could end up with 40 goals.
The season is just a warm-up for the real tournament; the Stanley Cup Play-offs are the real game. Hossa will score his point a game and maybe three is a charmed number; maybe he is the missing piece for the young Blackhawks team.
I am looking forward to watching him score for us instead of against us this season and for the duration of his contract.

Hossa truly is going to be the missing link for the Blackhawks. Everyone within the organization is raving about his all-world talent and how he looks to be on a level beyond even that of the likes of Toews and Kane. This is a good thing, too, as he will be a Chicago Blackhawk through the remainder of the year given that immovable contract. He will supposedly be back this weekend, and he should be the equalizer to the unstoppable offense of the San Jose Sharks.
I don’t like being one of those guys who jumps on the Hawks bandwagon…and I’m not, except for the fact that I cheered for them last year when the Sens didn’t even make the playoffs. Nonetheless, I am well versed in the story of Hossa and I’m well aware of just how good he can be! It’s scary to think what kind of an addition he will be to the Hawks when they get him in the line-up. The young guns of Chicago will have a nice big, veteran scorer to complement their roster and I wouldn’t be surprised if they come out of the West!
